Using Online Banking with IE 7

Settings you will need to configure for IE 7  
You’ll need to configure these settings to use Online Banking with IE 7

> cookies  
> your security settings  
 
Enabling JavaScript in your browser
JavaScript must be enabled in your browser before you can login and use Online Banking functionality.   Figure 1

Step one—getting ready  
select 'Tools' from the menu bar  
select 'Internet Options...' from the dropdown list (see figure 1)  
choose the 'Security' tab  
select the 'Internet' content zone  
select the 'Custom Level...' option.

scroll right down to the section called 'Scripting'  
make sure 'Active scripting' is enabled (see figure 2)  
click 'OK' and then 'OK' again.  
Enabling cookies in your browser
We use session cookies for security. Each time you perform a transaction or view a new page on our secure server, a message is sent to the server to authenticate the request.  
These session cookies are  
not permanently stored on your computer  
deleted when you log out of Online Banking.  
You need to enable cookies in your browser to use Online Banking. Internet Explorer 7 will normally allow you to accept session cookies.  
However, if we send you a message asking you to allow session cookies, you can do one of three things:  
1. Lower your privacy settings  
Step one—getting ready  
select 'Tools' from the menu bar  
select 'Internet Options...' from the dropdown list (see figure 1)  
choose the 'Privacy' tab.  
Step two—changing your privacy settings  
if your privacy settings are higher than the default 'Medium', click 'Default'  
click 'OK'.  
2. Customise your privacy settings  
Note: You won’t be able to customise your privacy settings if your privacy setting is 'Block all cookies'.

select 'Tools' from the menu bar  
select 'Internet Options...' from the dropdown list (see figure 1)  
choose the 'Privacy' tab.  
Step two—customising your privacy settings  
click the 'Advanced' button  
select 'Override automatic cookie handling'  
select 'Always allow session cookies' (see figure 3)  
click 'OK', and then 'OK' again.  
3. Allow cookies only from Westpac  
Note: You won’t be able to allow cookies if your privacy setting is 'Block all cookies'.

select 'Tools' from the menu bar  
select 'Internet Options...' from the dropdown list (see figure 1)  
choose the 'Privacy' tab.  
Step two—allowing Westpac cookies
click the 'Sites' button  
type in 'sec.westpac.co.nz' Address of Web site' (see figure 4)  
select 'Allow'  
click 'OK', and then 'OK' again.  
Ensuring compliance of your security settings
These settings will make sure your browser complies with our 128-bit SSL security standards.

select 'Tools' from the menu bar  
select 'Internet Options...' from the dropdown list (see figure 1)  
choose the 'Advanced' tab.  
Step two—checking your security settings    
scroll right down to section called 'Security'  
make sure that 'Use SSL 3.0' is enabled (see figure 5)  
click 'OK'.  
Step three—turning on the phishing filter    
scroll to the 'Security' section again  
scroll to the 'Phishing Filter'  
select 'Turn on automatic website checking'  
click 'Apply' and then 'OK'.  
Final steps
Once you have finished configuring your browser settings, please close and then re-open your browser
