What you can do with an overdraft
With an overdraft you can
get money when you need it—use it to pay for things and get cash using ATMs and EFTPOS
use it to pay bills and avoid late payment charges
manage the borrowing as it suits you—there are no minimum monthly repayments.
How to apply for an overdraft
Arranged overdraft facilities are available on  
Access accounts  
Easy Access accounts  
Electronic everyday accounts.  
You could also get an overdraft if you are
> studying  
> a graduate  
> starting work  
If you're 18 or over you can apply at any Westpac branch. Normal credit lending criteria will apply.
Overdraft prices
You'll pay interest on the amount you've overdrawn. Debit interest charges will apply.
A charge month
starts on the last business day of the calendar month  
finishes on the second to last business day of the following month.  
There is also a monthly line of credit charge and an establishment fee usually applies. As long as you do not exceed your approved limit there will be no extra charges.
