How long does the programme run for?
Our graduate programme runs for either one or two years, depending on the business areas you are interested in.

How many positions will I have during the programme?
During the programme you’ll be rotated through three or four positions, gaining experience and an insight into our business.

What training and support will I get?
Our aim is to provide you with roles that give you a good insight into the business.
For each position you will have a manager who acts as a mentor and ensures you get the training and development support you need.
This will include
orientation  
on-the-job training  
access to both internal and external training courses to support your career goals  
You’ll also have a coach for the entire programme who will help you identify your goals and plan a development path.
We also run a workplace buddy system so you have the support of your peers.

What positions are available and where?
Your rotations
your first two rotations are usually fixed when you join  
later rotations are decided once you know what areas interest you  
Location of graduate positions
many graduate positions are based in Auckland or other metropolitan areas  
there are also opportunities in more rural areas and some opportunity for travel  
your location depends on the roles available and your own preferences  
if you move around or are relocated, we will help with costs  
Towards the end of the programme
we will try to help you find a suitable position in the bank

What type of qualifications do I need?
We are interested in people with all types of degree qualifications—from agriculture, business or commerce, arts, law, science, education or applied computing.
Your degree isn’t the only thing we’re looking for—your attitude, initiative and energy are equally important. Work experience and participation in community activities is also an asset.
Qualities that will help you stand out from other applicants include
being a good all-rounder with a vibrant personality  
being a go–getter, with energy and a ‘can do’ attitude  
having excellent communication skills, both verbal and written  
being able to relate well to others and work as part of a team  
being passionate about your work and providing excellent service  
empathy, integrity and an appreciation of cultural and social diversity.
