How much does Txt Banking cost?
It’s free to register for Txt Banking and there’s no monthly fee.  
Txt banking charges are as follows:  
Txts you receive
You'll get 10 free txts from Westpac each month. You can use these free txts for txt alerts and Txt banking balances and transfer confirmations  
Additional txts costs 25c each to receive*  
Txts you send
As with regular txt messages, your mobile phone company will charge you for each txt you send to Westpac, for example, when you request your account balance or a money transfer. Please contact your provider for details of their fees and charges.

How will Txt Banking transactions show on my statement?
Each txt balance enquiry will show on your statement as ‘Txt banking balance’ and each txt transfer will show as ‘Txt banking Funds Trf’, with the 25c fee alongside –except the first 10 free txts, which will show as $0.
Note: Txt alerts will show on your statement as ‘Westpac Alert Txt Alert’.

Is there a limit to how many transactions I can make in a day?
You can make an unlimited number of txt balance enquiries or transfer requests in any day.

What happens if I don’t use all my free txts within the month?
Free txts don’t accrue from month to month. They must be used by the last day of the month or they will expire

Which bank accounts can I access with Txt banking?
You can register two Westpac transaction or savings accounts (credit cards are excluded) to receive account balances and transfer money from your savings or back-up account to your main account by txt.

Can I use Txt Banking overseas?
No. The txt balance service is only available within New Zealand.

Is there a minimum age for Txt Banking access?
There is no minimum age restriction for Txt banking, however, age restrictions may apply at an account level. Please refer to any specific account operating restrictions that apply to your Westpac account.

Can I cancel a Txt banking txt balance enquiry or transfer?
Once sent, Txt banking balance enquiries or transfer requests can’t be cancelled or reversed.
Remember you can always login to Online Banking or contact us to transfer the money back if you want to.

When I get my txt balance, what does ‘money available’ mean?
The ‘money available’ amount for your nominated Txt banking account(s)
is the amount of money you could spend right now
includes any money you may have available in an overdraft facility
doesn’t include the uncleared funds portion of any cheques or automatic payments deposited to your account in the past few days.

What happens if I change my mobile number?
You’ll need to update your Banking on your mobile registration details with your new mobile number
login to Online Banking
select the ‘Banking on your mobile’ option from the left hand menu
select ‘Amend mobile number’ and enter your new mobile number
follow the screen instructions to update and confirm your new details
we’ll send an activation code to your mobile phone which you need to enter into Online Banking to prove that it is your mobile number
If you are registered for Txt banking, but not an Online Banking customer you can update your mobile number by:
calling 0800 400 600 (7am – 11pm, 7 days a week)
visiting your local Westpac branch

How do I change the account nominated for balance enquiries?
To change your account nominated for Txt banking balance enquiries and money transfers
login to Online Banking
choose the ‘Banking on your mobile’ option from the left hand menu
select ‘Amend Txt banking’ and follow the on-screen prompts to update your nominated account details.
If you are registered for Txt banking, but not an Online Banking customer you can change the account nominated for balance enquiries by:
calling 0800 400 600 (7am – 11pm, 7 days a week)
visiting your local Westpac branch

What happens if my mobile is lost or stolen?
If the mobile you have registered for Txt banking is lost or stolen
report the loss of your mobile to your mobile network provider—they can block/suspend your phone from unauthorised use
you can also cancel your Txt banking registration in Online Banking and re-register at no cost once you have your mobile back.

Note: You can currently only get account balances and transfer money between two of your Westpac accounts by txt with Txt banking. If anyone finds your mobile, they can’t withdraw money from your nominated account using this service.

Do I need a password for txt balance enquiries?
No. You don’t need to enter a password to get your account balances or transfer money by txt.
