Features of Westpac Bill Protection insurance
Westpac Bill Protection insurance could be ideal for you, especially if you don’t have dependents or major debt. You can choose the level of cover you need.
You don’t have to answer any medical questions to be accepted because pre-existing conditions are excluded.
With Westpac Bill Protection you can choose
to pay premiums fortnightly or monthly  
from three levels of monthly benefit paid directly to you to help you pay any household bills.  
Benefits of Westpac Bill Protection insurance
If you become disabled
if you can’t work for 30 days or more due to accident or illness, your selected benefit can be paid for up to 24 months  
you can claim more than once for the same accident or illness—or an accident or illness which is directly related—for different periods up to a cumulative maximum of 24 months  
the income you receive will not be affected by other incomes e.g. ACC or sickness benefit  
you need to be working more than 25 hours a week in paid employment as at the date your injury or illness occurs to be entitled to a disability benefit.  
If you’re made redundant
if you’re a salary or wage earner made involuntarily redundant for more than 30 days, your selected benefit can be paid for up to 6 months.  
If you’re self-employed and made bankrupt
if you're self-employed and, if 6 months or more after your cover starts you are adjudicated bankrupt as a result of creditors applying to a New Zealand court, your selected benefit can be paid for up to 6 months.

You can choose the level of cover you need. Because the monthly benefit is paid directly to you, you can choose the bills you want to pay.
How much will Westpac Bill Protection cost?
Your monthly premium depends on
the monthly benefit you choose  
your age  
your gender  
your occupation  
whether or not you smoke.  
Westpac Bill Protection premiums are reviewed each year and will generally increase with age.
30 Day Free Look
You are entitled to a free look period of 30 days from the date you receive your Westpac Bill Protection policy document.
If you decide this cover is not for you, return your policy documents to Westpac Life within this free look period and we’ll refund any premiums you’ve paid.
